Everything they say about Rio seems to be true. Ipanema beach is beautiful, the climate is fantastic, the music is great and (some of) the people look amazing in swimwear.

As we got over the long bus journey (26 and a half hours…) we explored only a small section of the city, from Ipanema to Leblon. We saw all the classic Brazilian cliches: awesome beach football skills, thong bikinis, people drinking from coconuts, Christ The Redeemer peering down from the mountain and, of course, a samba jam session to round off the day. This we stumbled on by chance in a bar where lots of locals came down, each one seemingly armed with a new percussion instrument.

We may have only seen a small very rich part of Rio (not everyone lives this happily by any means, we know) but we love it so far!
